To enjoy the stay at Zaanse Schans as pleasant and safe as possible for every visitor house rules apply. We ask you to respect these house rules
Rules and regulations at the Zaanse Schans
Definitions
A) The “Zaanse Schans”: the Zaan’s living- and work-neighborhood within the municipality of Zaanstad, east of the river “Zaan”, north of the road “Leeghwaterweg” and in the middle of the “Kalverpolder” and as such recognizable by the signs.
B) Visitor: a person who voluntarily and non-professionally visits the “Zaanse Schans” / the owner or user of the vehicle, that brought that vehicle onto the parking lot of the “Zaanse Schans”.
C) Driver: a person who is commissioned and professionally visits the “Zaanse Schans”.
D) Parking area: the parking area on the “Zaanse Schans” that’s equipped for paid parking of motor vehicles, not the parking area of the residents of the “Zaanse Schans”.
E) Parker: the owner or user of a vehicle, who has brought that vehicle into the parking lot of the Zaanse Schans.
F) Parking ticket: any token provided by “Stichting De Zaanse Schans” that gives access to the parking area.
G) Vehicle: all motor vehicles, bicycles, mopeds, and vehicles for the disabled.
H) Parking attendant: any by “Stichting De Zaanse Schans” appointed person and recognizable as such.
General rules and regulations
- Visitors, drivers and staff employed by the “Zaanse Schans” shall treat each other in a normal and respectful manner.
- In the event of a calamity, visitors and drivers must follow the lead of the “Stichting De Zaanse Schans” staff, the police and/or the fire brigade.
- Verbal physical violence, intimidation, discrimination, or any other unwanted behaviour will not be tolerated.
- The use of alcohol is only allowed in the assigned areas, such as terraces.
- The use and sale of drugs and/or other hallucinogenic/psychedelia is prohibited
- Open fires are prohibited.
- Garbage must be deposited in the garbage cans provided.
- It is prohibited to leave goods of any sort behind in the parking area or the “Zaanse Schans”.
- Visitors are welcome to take wedding photos at Zaanse Schans. No permission is needed for this unless the visitors come with a professional film and camera crew. If visitors wish to take photographs or video recordings at a location of the Zaanse Schans, permission is required from the relevant location. Please send the request to communicatie@dezaanseschans.nl.
- It is prohibited to take photos or recordings for commercial purposes without explicit permission from “Stichting De Zaanse Schans”. Photographers and film crews must give advance notice to the staff of “Stichting de Zaanse Schans”.
- Drones are not allowed on the Zaanse Schans and in the Kalverpolder due to nuisance for residents, entrepreneurs, visitors and animals. Flying drones on the Zaanse Schans isn’t allowed for commercial or private purposes. Visitors can request permission from Stichting de Zaanse Schans (communicatie@dezaanseschans.nl) in exceptional cases and only if the operator holds a ROC (RPAS Operator Certificate) after which the legal rules will be observed.
- Television recordings might take place on the “Zaanse Schans” should visitors not wish to be recorded, we advise them to avoid the areas where these recordings occur.
Parking lot
- By entering the parking area, the visitor/driver accepts the parking rates as indicated at the entrance of the parking area.
- Directions from the parking attendant must be followed at all times.
- After paying the parking fee, the visitors/drivers have 15 minutes to leave the parking area.
- By loss, theft, or lack of a parking ticket, the daily rates must be paid to leave the parking area.
- There is camera surveillance around the parking area.
- The maximum speed limit in the parking area is 5 km/hour.
- It is prohibited to park outside the parking spaces; unless directed by the parking attendant. Accessways must remain unobstructed.
- We advise visitors/drivers not to leave any animals in the car. Dogs are allowed on the “Zaanse Schans”.
- Holders of a parking subscription do not have priority nor a guarantee for a parking space.
- It is prohibited to park a motor vehicle containing hazardous agents or chemicals.
- It is prohibited to park a motor vehicle that contains or spreads a noxious odour or any other substance or noise that may be experienced as obnoxious by others.
- It is prohibited for a visitor/driver to make, or have made by third parties, repairs or any other kind of proceedings to his/her vehicle except by explicit permission from “Stichting de Zaanse Schans”.
- Expenses incurred for the cleaning of liquids or any other kinds of substances from a parked vehicle will be charged to the visitor/driver of said vehicle.
- Expenses incurred for the repair of damages made to or in the parking area or parking installation caused by a vehicle or person will be charged to the visitor/driver of said vehicle or person.
- Visitors/drivers must pay the parking fee due before leaving, at one of the parking terminals or other designated areas.
“Stichting De Zaanse Schans” has the right to deny entrance to the “Zaanse Schans if the regulations are violated. All theft, violence or other impermissible behaviour detected by the “Stichting De Zaanse Schans” shall be reported to the police. “Stichting de Zaanse Schans” has video surveillance running for your and our safety and security. “Stichting De Zaanse Schans” is not liable for any loss, theft, or damage to the property of visitors/drivers.
