On Monday, 9 June, the Zaanse Schans will be the setting for the event: PinksterZaan. Pinksterzaan is a lively event commemorating the 451st Liberation Day of the Zaan region. Exactly 451 years ago, during Pentecost 1574, the Watergeuzen liberated the region from Spanish rule. This event has been celebrated for many years in the Zaan region at the Zaanse Schans, the place where the character of the Zaan is tangible.
PinksterZaan offers an interesting programme that features music, stories, and crafts. Choirs, ensembles and soloists pay tribute to freedom with performances at various locations in the heritage village. Visitors are invited to wander around, listen, discover, and reflect on what freedom means nowadays.
